While this cartridge is NOT a faithful adaption of the arcade machine, it most certainly is addicting! Take control of your fellow yellow "worrier" as he (or she) shoots away through monsters, worluks, and wizards in a variety of mazes. Determination for a tall score must be high, and hiding places are your best friends. At first glance, the original arcade elements seem to be present, but there are some changes. Unlike the original maze-shooter, 5200 Wizard of Wor does not give you an AI-controlled partner to help in the midst of a battle. As a result, you are on your own in the aquisitions of high-scores. Inviting a buddy to cooperate as "Player 2" is not a bad idea. In addition, the annoying voice-synthesis from the original game is missing, although that might be for the best. The sound effects are superb otherwise, yet why are the graphics so chunky? They bear a suspicious resemblance to those of the Atari 2600 cartridge of the SAME GAME! CBS Electronics could have done soooooo much, yet they left soooooo little to the imagination! On the plus side though, joystick controls are on par with those of the excellent 5200 Pac-Man, although some mazes are riddled with "invisible walls" to take caution of.
